HEAD COACH: George Edwards
Coach Edwards Level 3, started with the SAIT Trojans Fastball Team in 2003 as an Assistant Coach and in late fall of 2006 he became the Head Coach until this present time. He is instrumental in the building of the Trojans Fastball program. He is an avid supporter of the Game of Fastball and spends countless hours recruiting players to attend SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology). Having coached now for over 47 years he has worked with every level and age of player in the game. He was the First Head Coach to win the “Coach of the Year Award” for the WCSA and has many awards to his credit in League, Provincials, Westerns, and Summer Games. “Coach George” as he is often referred to, takes special pride in assisting young women to achieve their dreams of playing College Softball at their highest potential.
Assistant Coach: Dave Hupman
Coach Dave Level 2 has been part of the Trojan family since 2007. He is a major part of the coaching staff, bringing a common sense approach to the game. In 2012 Coach Dave assisted the Trojans to their best placing ever in the Canadian Collegiate Softball Nationals. He has been to many Provincials, Westerns, and National Championships coaching various levels of competitive Fastball. Dave is also on the Board of the CWFA and spends countless hours giving to the League and the Trojans Fastball Program.
Assistant Coach: Peter Allan
Peter joined the Trojan family as an assistant in 2012. He has been awarded “Coach of the Year” by Softball Alberta and has enjoyed coaching “A” Level Fastball for the last 20 years. He has coached in Provincials, Western Canadians and Nationals. He is registered Level 2 Coach and an important part of the Trojans Coaching Staff.
Pitching Coach: Cassandra Edwards
Cassandra played for the SAIT Trojans in the early years when the league was still in its infancy. In those days she was allowed to play as an Affiliate. This served as an incentive to her to attend SAIT to complete her Diploma in Business Finance and play College Fastball. She was the MVP every year she played with the Trojans. In addition, she was named to the League All-star teams every year she played. She has played and Coached in tournaments, Provincials, Western Canadians and Nationals. Her no nonsense approach to the game of Softball and her commitment to the game gives the team the chance to win every time they step on the field. She has been part of the Trojans in one way or another since 2005. She also is a Past President of the WCSA.
Assistant Coach: Sydney Stewart
Sydney is a former player who when graduating with her Degree from the University of Calgary in 2015 asked to complete her Practicum with the SAIT Trojans Fastball Team. She enjoyed the experience so much and did such a great job that she was asked to stay on as an Assistant Coach. She brings great Team Bonding drills, and Exercises to the team. The players really enjoy her teachings and although Sydney is early in her coaching career she shows incredible potential.
Technical Advisor: Walter Krochak
Walter has been involved in the game of Fastball for many, many years. In 2016 the Trojans had the honor of Walter come to assist in the instructing with the Trojans as a Technical Advisor. He brings to the team 50 years of experience having coached at Provincials, Western Canadians, Nationals, and Internationally. Utilizing a great sense of humor he teaches with such detail not known to many.
