2017 University of Calgary Coaching Staff

HEAD COACH: Neal Harlos
Neal became the 6th Head Coach of the Dinos Softball program in October 2015, after spending the 2015 season working as an assistant coach with the team. Neal brings a wealth of coaching experience. In the spring and summer season he coaches his Calgary Xtreme Jr. team. He has been head coach of teams that competed at both A & B Provincial Championships, Western Canadian Championships, National Championships, Alberta Summer Games, and numerous tournaments in the US. Neal holds his level 2 NCCP and is working towards his level 3. He is passionate about coaching and helping his players improve not only on the field but off the field as well. When not coaching he likes to spend his time at the gym, cycling, and disc golfing.


Assistant Coach: Amanda Sanderson

This is Amanda's second season as an assistant coach with the Dino's organization. She brings extensive playing experience to the program which includes; Team Canada Elite in 2005, Canadian Junior A National Champion in 2007, NAIA Collegiate National Champion in 2007, Two-time All American, NAIA Player of the year in 2009, Sooner Athletic Conference player of the year in 2009. Amanda graduated with her Master's degree in Human and Health Performance from Oklahoma City University along with CoSida ESPN academic honours. Amanda has been an assistant coach for both, A and B competitive Fastball provincials, Western Canadian Championships and the Alberta Summer Games Zone 2 Team. She is looking forward to building on the sucesses of the 2016 season.

PItching Coach: Caytlin Edge

Cayt just completed her first season as pitching coach with the Dinos in 2016, after 5 seasons as a Dino player. Cayt is likely the Dino that has received the most individual awards over her career Highlights include two Top Pitcher awards, and three All Star selections. She was the winning pitcher for the Dinos in the 2014 League Championship game, when she pitched a one run complete game. A true team leader, Cayt gives her team her best at all times, and as she moves into coaching that will not change.

Associate Coach: Randy Plishka

After a six season stint as Head Coach, Randy stepped down in the fall of 2015, passing the reins to Neal Harlos. Randy will concentrate his attention on recruitment and management for the team. Randy is a native Calgarian, and graduated from the University of Calgary in 1982. Highlights of his 6 season stint as Head Coach include the 2011 season which saw the team winning the Silver Medal at the CCSA National Championships, and in 2014 with the Dinos capturing the WCSA Championship for the first time since 2004. His coaching record shows a conference record of .682 ( 64 wins - 29 losses - 3 ties ), and a career record ( conference, non conference, playoff and Nationals ) of .574 ( 107 wins - 79 losses, and 4 ties ). When he’s not found on the ball diamond Randy can be found on a hiking trail in the mountains during the summer, or at a curling rink during the winter months.
